A principios de este mes de Junio Airbus, EADS EFW y sus socios Rusos UAC e Irkut decidieron cancelar el Programa P2F y comenzar con la recisión del contrato de la Joint venture “Airbus Freighter Conversion – AFC”
Ante la creciente evolución del mercado de pasajeros , la fuerte demanda de los aviones de la familia A320 en el mercado de segunda mano, que
reduce la disponibilidad de equipos para su conversión, sumado a la disminución de la demanda de aviones de carga de este segmento, se ha decidido cancelar el programa. El programa P2F (passenger-to-freighter) estaba destinado a convertir aviones A320 y A321 de segunda mano en aviones cargueros.

Entre las reformas a realizar en los aviones se encontraban, una nueva estructura para el piso de la cabina principal, una pared de seguridad divisoria entre el compartimento de carga y la cabina, sistema de carga manual en el piso de la cubierta principal para el mejor desplazamiento de los contenedores. Esta nueva familia de aviones permitía la carga de contenedores en ambas cubiertas del avión, estandarizando de esta manera la carga y descarga del avión entre otras cualidades.
